RE: boobs

We are supporting those this weekend at Haydays! At the SG booth, we're having a dunk tank as a fundraiser for the Pink Ribbon Riders, a charity for breast cancer causes. We have various industry people who have volunteered to sit in it and heckle the ball tossers. So, any of you who are going to be there, bring a couple of bucks to drop in the bucket, test your accuracy and help save boobs.

RE: hybrid Tahoes

so you are one of those guys eh timmay. ooh edmunds says. LOL those vehicles are on our lot with those msrps and you get the extra pulling power of the 6 litre. so with the tax credit you come out ahead with the hybrid unless you use edmonds/tims math. Car and Driver more credible? Slightly different results by different journalists who tested hybrid and non-hybrids side by side. From Car and Driver: The Tahoe 4wd hybrid comes only in a well-optioned version for $53,295. That’s about five grand more than a comparably equipped regular Tahoe. If you drive mostly on the highway, you’ll never make up the extra cost in fuel savings. But if you drive 15,000 miles per year, mostly in the city, you’ll save more than 300 gallons of gasoline per year. At $3 per gallon, you’ll make up the extra hybrid cost in about five years. another review

RE: hybrid Tahoes

Standard Base price: 2008 Yukon Hybrid: $50,045 Standard base price: 2008 Yukon: $37,340 Granted, adding the SLT-2 package to the non-hybrid adds $4,225 to make the equipment list more comparable . Here's what edmunds had to say about it. Edmunds: The Cost/Benefit Full Monty Naturally, the lower fuel cost and fuel savings are only part of the Tahoe two-mode hybrid's story. Here is the rest: Our test truck — equipped with a 6.0-liter V8 and electrically controlled variable transmission, navigation system and rear-seat DVD player — cost $51,785. That's about $6,900 more than a comparably equipped standard Tahoe with the 5.3-liter V8 and four-speed automatic transmission. Until the sales of this GM hybrid reaches 60,000 units, the IRS offers a $2,200 tax credit, bringing the cost premium down to about $4,660. Even more math will tell you that to recoup the price premium in fuel savings at a rate of 15,000 miles of annual driving will require more than 10 years. This is hardly a strong enough argument to convince those shopping from a cost-only perspective that the fuel-efficient Tahoe Hybrid is a good idea. full article here

RE: hybrid Tahoes

Here's the "benefits" just taking fuel usage into account (not counting tax incentives or maintenance costs of one or the other) Std: 15,000/16 mpg (average of the non-hybrid 5.3) = 937.5 gallons x $4 = $3,750 Hybrid: 15,000/21mpg = 714.3 gallons x $4 = $2,857.20 Annual fuel savings of $892.80. Sounds like real money ... But the cost of the hybrid two-mode drive system adds about $12k. It will only take 13 1/2 years to pay for itself, assuming both trucks have a 200,000 mile-plus lifespan. Gee, sign me up.

RE: Pics of my buddies motorcycle accident earlier this summer

"Only" 50 mph ... IIRC, he azz packed the car after the car in front of him stopped? It's one thing to wipe out and have the bike roll and tumble to a stop from 50 mph. Quite another to have the bike go from 50 - 0 in an instant. What do you think a Suburban looks like after it hits a wall at 50 mph? Not much better than that '94 Honda F2. Suz 'members the MSF curriculum well. If he had his head untucked this crash wouldn't have happened. Tell him to wear a helmet and it will be tougher to fit his head up his azz.

RE: Harley purchases a Euro / Italian "sport bike" Co.

"organ donor" bikes is the correct term. While the zip n'splat 20-somethings are still represented highest in motorcycle fatalities, in recent years it's been the Baby Boomers on their big cruisers who are also killing themselves in decent numbers. Most of those are single-vehicle crashes on rural highways. Seems lots of them go into mid-life or retirement mode, buy the big expensive bike they've lusted after and hit the roads. Then they get to turns and don't know how to handle it, wad and get dead. It's not the bike, it's the riders on them. This guy in the picture is probably dead already. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/snowflap/SQUID.jpg

RE: Sunday morning coffee in IL

Sorry about crossing the IL border, Riggs. I'm not going there on purpose but it's in the way. 4 of us will be passing through on the way to Ohio for some track time.

Sunday morning coffee in IL

Prolly be passing through Chicago 9-ish Sunday morning. Sure we'll hit a travel plaza for draining urine and filling up with diesel and coffee. Which ones have a Dunkin' Doughnuts? M1M? Smack? Please advise. If anyone swings out to say hello, I'll let you buy.

RE: CHECK OUT THIS NEW...

I love the 80s Vmax and the other power cruisers (V65 Magna, Kawasaki Eliminator A1s). The first Vmax bikes were stupid quick. My fav is still the Eliminator though.

Seriously, bout 30 seconds into this little tirade and the 3 or 4 suits spectacting didn't take him down and feed him a few size elevens inda grille? Thought the same thing. Guy grabs a phone to record it, and all the other guys stand around in shock instead of having a pair to do something to take him out, even after he assaults a woman with a monitor.

RE: I miss this boat

Does/did anything you own ever work? The Mystery Machine has been virtualy flawless for a 190,000 miles! Only mechanically. It's got all kinds of biohazards.
